Japan saw a new version of the Nissan Silvia in 1999. Silvia S15 was equipped with an SR20DET engine with a capacity of 250 hp. (184 kW). The second engine — SR20DE (without a turbine) produced 165 hp. (121 kW). Nissan Silvia S15 externally and internally looked quite aggressive, the body update took place with an eye on modern trends in car design. Gearboxes: 5- or 6-speed mechanics or 4-speed automatic. This generation of Sylvia was sold only in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, but thanks to "grey" imports, was also available in most other countries. The Spec R S15 has won numerous regional and world drift championships. Most of the world podiums were won on specially prepared Nissan Silvia S15.
The Nissan S-series cars are popular in drift competitions , especially the S13 to S15 bodies. The car enjoys success in the sport, 5 different pilots driving the S15 have won 7 D1GP championships (2001 - Nobuteru Taniguchi, 2004 - Ryuji Miki, 2005 - Yasuyuki Kazama, 2007 - Masato Kawabata, 2009-2011 - Yoichi Imamura). Silvia successfully competed in the All-Japan GT Championship (now Super GT). Both the S14 and S15 generations won the GT300 class championship in 1997 and 2001 respectively. In the late 1980s, when Group B was banned, the Silvia S110 and S12 also enjoyed some success in rallying , mainly endurance racing. S13s also raced successfully in the IMSA GTU class throughout the 1990s. There are several stages of S15

Motorsport Games of the International Automobile Federation ( FIA Motorsport Games Drifting Cup ), and which was held from November 1 to 2 on the Vallelunga track , the winner was Dmytro Ilyuk , piloting a Nissan 200SX with with flight number 20.
